An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a motivated and passionate Peer Support Worker (22.5 hrs/0.6 WTE) to join our Maternity Trauma and Loss Care (MTLC) Service.

The service is aimed at supporting women/birthing who are affected by pregnancy loss, still birth, neonatal loss, perinatal trauma, and those who have a fear of pregnancy/childbirth.

MTLC has been developed in conjunction with Experts by Experience drawing on the invaluable input of women/birthing locally who have faced maternity trauma and loss.

The service provides targeted care and support to those whose needs would not be well met in other services but have significant emotional and mental health difficulties related to their maternity experience.

This would be an exciting opportunity for a person with lived experience of Perinatal Trauma and/or Perinatal Baby Loss to join our service.

We expect through sharing aspects of your own lived experience of mental health challenges and of accessing services, that you as Peer Support Worker will inspire hope and the belief that recovery is possible in others.

The post-holder will foster a relationship of mutuality and information sharing, to promote choice, self-determination, opportunities and hope. They will raise awareness about local resources and opportunities that may assist people in maintaining their recovery.

They will encourage and support service users to use community and resources that are available to them, and support the MTLC team with developing links with these resources.

They will act as an advocate for recovery within the team and an ambassador for recovery for the Trust and with partner agencies.

The post-holder will be required to work as part of a multidisciplinary team in community settings.

You will be a member of the multi-disciplinary team, facilitating client-centred activities for our women/birthing people and their families.
