An exciting opportunity to help make sport and activity a safe and welcoming space for everyone.
Working alongside local clubs and organisations across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, these brand new Sport Welfare Officer roles will help build an increased understanding of local needs so support can be provided and a safe, friendly environment created for all.
Following the Whyte Review, Sport England are investing in a network of full-time Sport Welfare Officers across the national network of 42 Active Partnerships, of which Energise Me is one.
Responsibilities
You'll be responsible for promoting the importance of welfare by engaging with clubs and organisations across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight
You will:
- Help build an increased knowledge of local needs so support can be provided and a safe, friendly environment can be created for all.
- Work with club welfare officers to promote good practice. Engaging with club and organisation welfare officers, to raise safeguarding awareness with parents, carers and participants.
- Audit and prioritise clubs, given the volume across the county, and work with national governing bodies, other locally defined organisations and Sport England to do this.
- Establish and grow effective relationships with Club Welfare Officers and provide effective lines of communication.
- Train (or organising training for) Club Welfare Officers, prioritising new Club Welfare Officers.
- Facilitate and proactively assist the reporting and referral of safeguarding cases from local to national and, if appropriate, contribute to the resolution of lowerlevel concerns.

Alongside a passion for creating safe and accessible spaces for all, you'll bring key skills and experience to the role, including:
- Great people skills to establish and maintain working relationships.
- Be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing and navigate IT with ease.
- Organised and be used to assessing priorities and working to tight deadlines.
- Have safeguarding experience and have the skills to manage sensitive information and topics delicately.
