Salary circa £60,000:

The Beatson Institute in Glasgow is one of Europe's leading cancer research centres. It is core funded by Cancer Research UK and supports leading research into the molecular mechanisms of cancer development. The Beatson Institute provides an outstanding research environment, underpinned by state-of-the art core services and advanced technologies.

The Beatson is an independent cancer research institute which is governed by a Board of Directors. We employ over 300 staff including scientific researchers, postdoctoral scientists, professional and support staff.


We have an exciting opportunity for an inspiring and transformational Head of People and Culture to lead the people agenda and strategy at the Institute.

This is a senior management role with a remit to lead our HR function and to develop and champion our values and culture in a multi-cultural organisation.

Ideally, you will be an experienced HR practitioner with a track record in strategically and operationally supporting People and Culture within a life sciences environment or similar.


As an HR leader, you must possess significant management experience and the personal credibility to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders within a scientific research environment.

You should also possess excellent change management skills and a leadership style that encourages and develops those around you.


You must be degree educated and a member of CIPD with a track record in strategic leadership of an HR function.

In addition, you should have experience of organisational development in a multi-cultural environment and demonstrated experience of change management at an organisational level.

Experience of acting as a trusted member and advisor to a Senior Management Team is also essential as is the ability to coach and mentor managers at all levels.
