and you'll be part of our legacy.


EGL2, is one of several developments required to increase the capability of the existing Great Britain transmission network from the North-East of Scotland to the North of England.

The increase is required to facilitate the growth in flows of renewable generation; helping to ensure the UK can meet its target of enabling 50GW of renewable energy by 2030 and achieving a 'Net Zero economy' by 2050.


Balfour Beatty has been contracted complete the Land HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) Cabling works with the project expected to run until December 2029.


As a
Quality Advisor you will be assisting the project team helping us deliver 'Right First Time - Every time' for our client.


You will be part of the wider Power Transmission & Distribution Quality Team reporting into Quality Manager for Core National Grid and Major Projects.

You will be a quality practitioner providing support to our project delivery teams.

What you'll be doing
As a
Quality Advisor, you will have the following accountabilities:

  • Support project teams in developing the quality plans / inspection & test plans are being followed and that requirements are being met, and review those from the supply chain;;
  • Assist delivery teams in achieving the required deliverables, and managing issues as required, also providing Quality advice to our supply chain where appropriate;
  • Use digital systems to monitor the performance of quality planning / production of quality deliverables / managing of issues against targets;
  • Support project team in collating and delivering handover records as per customer' requirements, on time;
  • Overseeing the maintenance of the Business Management System ensuring it reflects the latest requirements, supporting delivery teams as required and that changes are communicated to the projects;
  • Support the Quality team in managing external auditing governing bodies to maintain existing certification and continuous improvement;
  • Work with others to produce project and/or business quality deliverables as required;
  • Support the development of either project or business stream quality strategies and plans and the delivery and implementation of measurement frameworks, programmes and actions across the scope of services and full project lifecycle;
  • Assist in training, coaching and developing quality skills in business / project streams, including sharing lessons learned;
  • Support the establishment of a continuous improvement culture;
  • Support the undertaking of specific investigations and/or reporting on quality related issues as required;
  • Support the use of appropriate digital toolset to support the project governance and quality assurance/ measures on the project, including training of those tools;
  • Work towards gaining the Practitioner member grade of the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI);
  • Live the Balfour Beatty Values;
  • Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm and Right First Time.

Who we're looking for

You will have the following:

  • An understanding and commitment to Quality Management;
  • Experience in construction;
  • Has an enquiring and questioning approach to audit work and experience in managing accreditation audits;
  • Experience in driving business improvement and leading change within a business;
  • Has an ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts;
  • Can work to plans, programmes and budgets;
  • Pays attention to detail and sees things through to completion;
  • Is good at building relationships and can influence effectively;
  • Can deliver reports orally and written in an objective manner;
  • Ability to challenge existing methods and ways of thinking;
  • Able to work within a multidiscipline team;
  • Fully proficient in modern office computer systems and technology e.g. Office 365;
  • A full UK driving licence

The following are desirable:

  • Formal qualification in Quality Management;
  • ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor trained;
  • Awareness of sector specific certifications and their requirements;
  • Experience in using Digital Progressive Assurance systems / Electronic Forms;
  • Operational experience in construction or asset management.
