  • Situated at the very heart of England on the border of the East and West Midlands, Hinckley is well connected by major transport links to the cities of Leicester, Coventry and Birmingham and in an ideal location for commuting being close to major transport links of the M1, M6, M69, M42 and the A5. _
Food Poverty Officer
Grade 4, £24,294 up to £27,334 per annum pro rata
37 hours per week - up to 12 months fixed term contract


The rising cost of living is creating significant challenges for many residents in Hinckley and Bosworth, with the demand for emergency food support reaching unprecedented levels.

This initiative aims to tackle food poverty in a strategic and sustainable way by working closely with existing emergency food providers.

We are seeking a passionate individual to collaborate with local organisations and build a cohesive framework to address food insecurity


This role will involve:

  • Mapping existing support services: Identifying the various resources available to those in need, including food banks, community kitchens, and other relevant assistance programs.
  • Streamlining referral pathways: Establishing clear and efficient procedures to connect individuals with the most appropriate support services based on their specific needs.
  • Building strong relationships: Fostering effective collaboration with key referral agencies, organizations, and emergency food providers to ensure a unified approach to tackling food poverty.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: The ability to build rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds and foster effective working relationships with various organizations is crucial for this role.

You should also have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs which includes Word, Excel and Outlook and have the flexibility needed to conduct some out of hours working.

We operate a 'hybrid working' model with a mix of office based, home and remote working available when suitable. The contractual base will be office based with agreed flexibility to work from home or at remote working locations in the borough
