About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a full time or 2 part time highly skilled and self-motivated line managers to join the Cambridgeshire Registration Service as Ceremony Officer Team Leader(s), based in our Cambridge office, although if 2 part time roles one could be based elsewhere.


The Service provides core statutory services for the official recording of key events (birth and death registrations, legal notices, marriage ceremonies, civil partnerships, citizenship ceremonies) and provision of copy certificates, in addition to non-statutory, income generating services such as naming and renewal of vows ceremonies.

It is proactive, ambitious and strives to remain at the forefront of service delivery nationwide.


We are looking for an enthusiastic, customer-focused person (or persons) that are able to use their own initiative (within the legal framework) and can motivate a large team to constantly deliver a quality service to our customers.

What will you be doing?
In partnership with the other Ceremony Officer Team Leader you will be responsible for:

  • The motivation, performance management and line management of ceremony officers
  • Providing management cover and on call duties on a rota basis this includes a shift pattern (Mon to Fri/Tues to Sat) throughout the whole peak season
  • Ensuring appropriate staffing for the delivery and registration of all ceremonies, including short notice cover and out of hour cover requirements
  • Maintaining, delivering and monitoring technical expertise with a thorough understanding od statutory and nonstatutory services ceremonies
  • Building and maintaining good working relationships with stakeholders including customers, licensed venues, clergy, service providers and others and provide support wherever required.
  • Training, monitoring and developing Ceremony Officers to an agreed standard of excellence with regard to individual behaviours and high levels of customer service.
About you


You will be required to work anywhere in the County based on operational needs, so will need the ability to travel (including to our 77 Approved Venues).
