Weekenders Club is a voluntary Organisation, registered with Ofsted and operates as a charity funded primarily through Leeds City Council.

We provide a short breaks service for children and young people with disabilities between the ages of 5 and 18 years, in two 3-hour sessions each Saturday.


Job Title:
Care Workers/Play Workers


Responsible to:
Senior Play Leader


Hourly Rate:
£12.00 per hour + holiday pay at the statutory rate

Hours of Work: 7.5 hours per week - 9.00am pm on a Saturday (Minimum of 2 shifts per month required)

(we are closed 5 Saturdays a year)

Venue:
Vine Education Centre, Headingley, Leeds 6.

Aim:

At Weekenders Club our staff and volunteers are committed to creating a safe, stimulating, flexible and enjoyable environment for all children to reach their full potential.

We provide activities built upon the young people's interests, natural curiosity and matched to each child's current and emerging capabilities.


Job Purpose:

The job involves working with children and teenagers with a variety of disabilities, aged between 5 and 18 years.

To be able to support and engage with 1:1's/small groups (mixed abilities/ages/challenging behaviour/complex care needs) It is essential that you have some experience of working in a disabled setting (e.g., SILC School or an ongoing disability playscheme).


  • Have experience of working with children & young people with disabilities/additional needs
  • Be able to commit to working a minimum of 2 Saturdays a month (we are closed 5 weekends per year)
  • Be able to attend training as required
  • It is desirable (but not essential) that you have the appropriate qualification (minimum of NVQ Level 3 in play work or childcare).

This role is based in the UK. Employment is conditional on confirmation of the right to work in the UK - either as a UK or Irish citizen, under the EU Settlement scheme or having secured any other relevant work visa.
