Emergency Care Ward Clerk Band 2 (part-time 30hours per week)With opportunity to progress to Band 3
It is an exciting time to be joining our team of emergency care ward clerks who rotate into the Acute Medical Unit (AMU), Short Stay Unit (SSU) and Ambulatory Emergency Care Unit (AECU) at the Royal Berkshire Hospital with great development and career opportunities.
Some of you duties will include; completing administration duties by admitting, transferring and discharging patients from the electronic patient records, booking follow up appointments, answering and directing phone calls, meeting and greeting patients and relatives.
You will receive training and support to work in all the units by a senior ward clerk and will be a valued member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team.
Your training will also be supported by a competency to aid your career progression from a band 2 to a band 3.
We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic, caring & compassionate, work well within a team. This is a great opportunity for anyone wanting a career in health care/medicine. Individuals will be expected to work a range of shifts including day / evenings and weekends.

Answer general enquires in a helpful and sympathetic manner
To ensure all correct data is entered onto hospital appointment system
To ensure the ward areas is kept well stocked with stationary, and photocopying as required
Data entry & reports
To ensure patients confidentiality is maintained
To maintain a professional approach whilst in clinical areas
Liaise on a daily basis with nurse in charge
Booking transport as requested and ensuring EDLs are completed in a timely manner
To be able to use the EPR system
Liaise with the facilities department on behalf of staff, logging maintenance requests.
