Our Telford site are now recruiting for a Transport Team Leader on a full time, permanent basis.


Salary:
£29,258 per annum


Working hours:
Days - 4 on 4 off, 06:00-18:00


Job Description:


Key accountabilities:

  • To allocate both drivers and vehicles to loads in the most efficient way, optimising vehicle utilisation and drivers hours whilst adhering to WTD regulations and Drivers hours' legislation;
  • Planning driver start times to meet the sites despatch KPI;
  • Effective communication with the planning team and other depots to optimise resource across the network and achieve the most efficient plan;
  • Allocate equipment to meet maintenance/service intervals as instructed by the maintenance planner.
  • Plan, arrange and allocate ad hoc collections /deliveries, as and when required or requested;
  • Plan to meet collection and delivery times in line with service level agreements.
  • Communicate with the collection points to advice of any delays prior to the delivery/collection time. Proactively communicate with the clients if issues are foreseen or known;
  • Request and confirm third party drivers as per the daily plan, communicating effectively with the suppliers on a regular basis;
  • Pre plan both core and agency resource to meet the forecasted volumes taking into consideration peak periods;
  • Upon request, arrange special deliveries in the most cost efficient way using own fleet or agreed subcontractors;
  • Proactively communicate with third party hauliers to ensure collection times are adhered to from site;
  • Adhere to the business Health & Safety policy, ensuring that all accidents are reported including near misses to promote a good Health & Safety culture on site;
  • Follow the sites defect procedure to ensure defected equipment is defect as per the process and the VOR time is kept to a minimum;
  • Inspect fleet on regular intervals, inside and out to monitor cleanliness;
  • To ensure a smooth operation, communicate effectively with other departments and depots, with information on late despatch or goods in.

Qualifications:


  • Negotiating and the ability to influence and steer
  • Chilled transport experience in a FMCG environment
  • Strong communication skills to colleagues, stakeholders and customers
  • Have knowledge of the Road Transport Directive and current drivers hours;
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Planning and organising skills;
  • Strong team player and ability to work alone;
  • Conscientious and reliable;
