About Manchester Metropolitan University

Manchester Met University is one of the largest universities in the UK, located at the heart of a vibrant and ambitious city.

We trace our roots back to the early part of the nineteenth century, when institutions were established to deliver skills and education for local people, improving livelihoods and the economy.

The University has more than 40,000 students studying on degree apprenticeships, undergraduate, postgraduate, research, professional or continuing professional development study courses.

This is alongside a talented workforce of over 4,000 people and with an annual income of c£370m in 2020/21. The University is also ranked amongst the top 100 universities in the UK.

The opportunity

Manchester Met is committed to advancing equality, diversity, and inclusion in all it does and has developed a new Inclusive and Diverse Culture Strategy to accelerate progress.

Part of this initiative is to work through established, tried, and tested EDI frameworks to ensure a systematic institutional approach to EDI and to work towards achieving the institutions' EDI goals.

This role will provide advice, support and guidance to Man Met's Charter marks groups and other staff across the University to ensure that charter mark requirements are embedded across the institution and that submissions are made to the appropriate bodies in a timely manner.

The postholder will take charge of day-to-day management of Man Met's commitments to advancing EDI through the charter marks.

They will be essential to maintaining forward momentum and ensure that actions to tackle inequalities become embedded in Mat Met's operations.

To fulfil this role, the postholder must be an efficient and well organised person who can work independently.

We need someone who can communicate and develop trusted relationships with key stakeholders and work in partnership to improve our employee engagement.

Manchester Met is always evolving and striving to improve and to be better.

This is an incredibly exciting and varied role for someone to come on a journey with us as we aim to achieve great things.

Along the way, we offer a competitive rewards and benefits package including a generous local government pension and 35 days annual leave in addition to bank holidays and Christmas shut down.

Please note:

this role is an 18 months fixed term role and we are looking for the postholder to commence employment from October/November 2023.
