The new Building Safety Regulator (BSR) sits within HSE and is responsible for implementing a new regulatory regime and strategy for higher-risk residential buildings in England.

The BSR oversees the safety and performance of the wider built environment, driving cultural change and increasing the competence of the building control profession.

We are now looking for two Policy Advisors to join us on a full-time, permanent basis.

The Role


As a Policy Advisor, you will help to develop policies and processes in emerging areas of work that align with our wider objectives related to our BSR.

Reviewing and amending existing practices, you will develop a good understanding of policy, frameworks and legislative issues.

You will also establish credibility with both colleagues and external stakeholders, maintaining and developing collaborative networks.

Additionally, you will contribute to the preparation of high-quality advice and briefing to HSE Senior Management and Ministers.


About You
To be considered as a Policy Advisor, you will need:

  • The ability to make sound recommendations based on evidence
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, maintaining positive working relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders
  • The ability to produce and present complex information effectively in a clear and concise way for nontechnical audiences
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders to help shape outcomes
  • Sound analytical skills
  • Good organisational and planning skills
Please note, you will be expected to travel to meetings with stakeholders in the UK. This may sometimes be at short notice and involve occasional overnight stays.
