Grade UE06:
£31,396 to £36,024 per annum (A revised salary range for this grade of £32,982 to £38,205 is planned to take effect from Spring 2024).


College/School:
College of Medicine & Veterinary Medicine / Institute for Regeneration and Repair.


Open Ended Contract.

Full Time - 35 Hours Per Week.


We are looking for an inquisitive, enthusiastic, and innovative individual to join us in the role of Finance and Data Officer.

The role entails the provision of reliable financial data to facilitate evidence-based strategic planning and decision-making by senior academics and the institute management teams.


This post is advertised as full-time (35 hours per week); however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns.

We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working, however we seek a minimum of 60% on site working.


The Opportunity:

You will provide wide-ranging, professional, effective and efficient administrative support within the Institute for Regeneration and Repair (IRR)

Business team.

The Business Team of 14 individuals, support all the business and finance needs of an institute of almost a thousand people including staff, postgraduate and undergraduate students, tenant organisations and cross campus laboratory facilities.

Our team has two sub teams - A) Grants:
who administer government and charity sponsored research and B)

Transactional:
who provide ordering and invoicing support and supply budgetary monitoring services to non-grant funded activities.

This post will support both sub teams providing advanced spreadsheeting and record keeping solutions.

The post holder will in addition hold their own portfolio of support, prioritising our large atypical research finance portfolio totalling more than £20 million in value sourced from donations, service contract income, consultancy and short project awards (<1yr).

The post will support budgeting for these sources across the three main centres of IRR, namely the Centre for Reproductive Health (CRH), the Centre for Inflammation Research (CIR) and Centre for Regenerative Medicine (CRM).


Your skills and attributes for success:

  • A relevant vocational qualification and two years' relevant work experience OR Educated to at least Highers level or equivalent, with significant financial or management accounting experience working in a busy account's office environment (Desirable).
  • Proven experience of working effectively in a team.
  • Ability to work independently, to use initiative and prioritise own work.
  • Exceptional data handling, spreadsheeting and Excel skills with evidenced ability to analyse and interpret financial data.
  • Ability to pick up and work with new IT systems quickly and efficiently.
