Description

Press Brake Operative required for a successful engineering company based in Walsall.

The
Operator will be responsible for operating a variety of machines including lathes, grinders, and other tooling. The operator will also be responsible for the setup and operation of all tools, dies, and machines. The operator will also be responsible for the setup and maintenance of all machines.

Duties of a Press Brake Operative:

Read and interpret engineering drawings and work orders.
Loading and unloading of the press brake machine.
Operate a press brake machine to bend and shape metal pieces according to specifications.
Working to tight tolerances.
Perform proper setup of machines.
Perform routine maintenance on the machine.
Carry out quality inspections; detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the line manager.
Ensure the safety of yourself, the machine, and the working environment.

Skills of a

Press Brake Operator:

Will have relevant industry experience (sheet metal).
An experienced Press Brake Setter and Operator (Trumpf, Amada OR LVD).
Able to work from technical drawings.
Reliable and able to work efficiently alone.

Essential Duties:

Set up and operate precision machining equipment including lathes, grinders, milling tools, etc.
Set up and operate precision machining equipment including lathes, grinders, milling tools, etc.
Set up and operate CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) machines
Perform quality control functions including checking parts for quality defects
Maintain the machine by performing preventative maintenance and routine inspections
Keep records of the machine's performance by using one or more forms per day
Clean machine shop by using appropriate materials in a safe manner to prevent corrosion and prevent accumulation of rust
Other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager

Qualifications:

Ability to read blueprints and understand basic mathematics to determine part sizes and dimensions
Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers to determine part sizes and dimensions
Ability to use hand tools such as drills, grinders, saws, etc. to perform basic machine shop duties such as sanding, polishing, cleaning etc.
Ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly or regularly with an escort individual (on occasion)

Salary:
£12.00-£13.00 per hour
