Gateway G is based in the Treatment Centre at Nottingham University Hospitals, We are looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated deputy team leader for anaesthetics to join our friendly, supportive team on Gateway G at The Treatment Centre.
Gateway G is a busy clinical area and we are looking for a positive, self-motivated and innovative individual, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
You will also be committed to providing the highest standards of care, whilst demonstrating clear professionalism and acting as a role-model for the Trusts Values and Behaviours.
We require you to be proactive in providing support and supervision of nursing and non-nursing staff and nursing students. You will be able to use your initiative for problem solving and be able to think on your feet.Main duties of the job
Gateway G has 5 operating theatres (including 2 with laminar flow), and covers general surgery, gynae, HPB, orthopaedics, urology, vascular, ENT, max fax and ophthalmology.
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Specialty for a Band 6 Team Leader with responsibility for anaesthetics.
You will manage a small but dedicated team of operating department practitioners who provide support and high level care to our patients.

You will work closely with all members of the multi-disciplinary team team, contributing to the development of a highly skilled workforce.

You should have excellent oral and written communication skills. Key board skills would be of benefit but not essential. A background in daycase surgery would be advantageous.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Act as the deputy to the team leader regularly taking charge of the unit and ensuring that the standards and quality of care given to patients, together with the environment in which care is delivered, are maintained at a high standard.
Be an effective leader and role model and will be expected to provide regular direct clinical care and use experience to support the implementation of both clinical and non‐clinical governance.
Work flexibly as a member of the theatre team to work clinically to ensure standards are being maintained, evaluated, and where necessary improved.
Qualifications:
Essential criteria
- Current level one NMC registration or HPC registration part
- Evidence of continuing professional development and recent study relevant to theatres/recovery.
- A Teaching/assessing qualification
- Junior/Supervisory management course
- Level 3 mentor qualification

- Competent in complex clinical skills

- Can effectively use a variety of communication skills
- Able to use power point, word and excel to produce documents and presentations
- Can present a mixture of information from a variety of sources.
