We are currently looking to recruit an Continuous Improvement Lead (Quality and Safety) who will play a pivotal role in ensuring the project successfully captures and acts upon observations, incidents, and learning opportunities.

Ensuring that events are reported, trending analysis undertaken to identify areas for focus and where necessary that the investigation process is followed to deliver quality and timely investigation output with robust corrective actions, which are tracked and completed effectively to prevent repeat occurrences.


If successful you will be part of the HPC Continuous Improvement team responsible for the management and ongoing development of the Enable Continuous Improvement process with particular emphasis on driving change to improve safety, quality, time and cost.


The team monitors and encourages through innovative communication methods and strong networking within the project, the capturing and embedment of learning to prevent recurrences of incidents.

Working with two other Leads you will manage the Project's Reporting System, ensure accurate and timely reporting and investigation of Health, Safety, Environment, Security & Quality events.

This requires a good understanding of the mechanisms of recording, managing and reporting information and how to distil key learning points from information and onward communication of those lessons learnt to the relevant teams.

What you'll be doing

  • Responsible for oversight and promoting rigour and pragmatism for the completion of event investigations for the HPC Project to ensure compliance with Nuclear Site Licence Condition
  • Incidents on Site.
  • Assess and make judgements on learning opportunities, from both internal and external sources, to ensure the project provides an appropriate proportional response, considering the impact on safety, quality, time and cost.
  • Develop and implement data analysis tools, identify trends and perform analysis of trends ensuring the output is presented within differing formats, dependent on the audience and identify recommendation/actions for the site management team.
  • Enable effective communication with Tier 1 contractors to ensure they are aware of, and able to act upon relevant learning opportunities.
  • Provide organisational learning guidance tailored to specific disciplines/areas of the project to Directorates and the Programme Delivery Teams and be a focal point for general organisational learning matters.
  • Key influencer for setting standards and ensuring they are adhered to.
  • Provide technical challenge at the HPC Screening Meeting ensuring all preparation requirements are met and meeting outputs managed and processed.
  • Lead on the development of Key Performance Indicators for the project, and understand leading and lagging indicators and how to use various approaches to maximise improvement.
  • Provide the necessary rigour and attention to detail to maintain a healthy and above all, accurate database of events and learning for the project, ensuring quality checks are performed on the data, remedying issues in a timely manner and provide feedback and coaching where necessary to improve.
  • Provide the connectivity and be the conduit for learning activities to other parts of the business and external locations utilising experience and knowledge of the onsite activities to filter the learning as appropriate for potential impact on the project and applicability to current and foreseeable work streams.
  • Undertake a systematic approach to decision making and prioritisation based on significance of events/learning and potential benefit to future operations and other sites such as Sizewell C.
