JOB PURPOSE


The main purpose of this role is to drive machine performance, optimise productivity and reduce downtime to achieve departmental targets & KPI's across the Cut & Crease department ensuring that machine efficiency is at it's best.

This role is for Cut/Crease Shift Supervisor

Working 12 hour Shifts 6-6 on a Continental Shift Pattern


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To drive the achievement of targets in key performance, machine productivity, efficiency, waste, quality, customer service levels and Health & Safety.
  • Optimise production output in the cutting department through effective organisation, coordination and resource management. Striving for continual improvements in machine productivity and efficiency, waste reduction, product quality and customer service levels.
  • Challenge Operators to achieve Optimum Machine Speed and to reduce Make Ready Times.
  • Ensuring that the escalation routes are followed in the event of an issue beyond the control of the Cut & Crease Department. Ensure that any remedial action is followed up so issues are not repeated.
  • Always promote a SAFETY AWARE environment and continually suggest ways to reduce the possibilities of accidents at work.
  • Manage your shift in relation to the company Hygiene policy.
  • In the absence of a department manager, step up and take responsibility for the Cut & Crease department liaising with the shift Team Leaders in Print and Finishing. This may include making key decisions in terms of how jobs are cut.
  • Attend mid shift meetings to Discuss any issues during the shift with other Department Supervisors /TeamLeaders.
  • To ensure effective interdepartmental communication.
  • To improve customer quality and service levels to reduce customer complaints.
  • Ensure you and the team operate to clear Standard Operating Procedures that are correctly trained out.
  • Identify development needs of operators on machines and in PMR and feedback to the Department Manager.
  • Support the creation and development of a teamworking environment.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements and cost reductions in areas such as overtime, consumables, maintenance and waste.
  • Optimise equipment and resource usage for effective and efficient output.
  • Be proactive and work with the Department Manager in developing solutions to operational issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all existing systems, standards and procedures within all areas to satisfy both company and customer requirements

  • Drive productivity & standardisation across the Cut & Crease department
  • Provide training and coaching to your team and instil a Lean culture t.
  • Ensure housekeeping is of the highest standard.
  • Adjust and change plans as and when to ensure 100% OTIF is achieved.

  • Achieve departmental KPI's
  • Constantly strive to reduce downtime to agreed levels
  • Meet and maintain customer requirements in terms of quality and output
  • Compliance with the company's quality standards (PS9000 and BRC/IoP)
  • Adherence to the company's health safety & environment standards (HASAWA Act, ISO45001)
  • Maintain a good overall condition of work area throughout the C&C department using routine maintenance and cleaning.
  • Accurate & efficient control of components including filing and good housekeeping practices and 5s.

SKILLS/QUALS

  • Relevant experience of their production area and processes
  • Experience using Bobst cutting machinery preferred but not Essential.
  • Key understanding of all KPI's including cost, manufacturing performance, people management.
  • Strong People Management skills
  • Excellent communication skills (Verbal and Written)
  • Ability to drive and motivate a team
  • Knowledge and understanding of, Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma (Desirable)
  • Knowledge and understanding of BRC, ISO 9001, and ISO 1400
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment
  • FMCG preferred
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Experience in Planning, and Prioritising Workload to achieve targeted KPI's
  • Ability to identify opportunities for process improvements to machinery and/or employees
  • Have a commercial mindset

Pay:
£33,000.00-£37,000.00 per year
