- We are looking for a highly motivated, confident and enthusiastic person to join our team who engages with a wide range of customers to promote sustainable growth and secure environmental outcomes through landuse and planning systems.
You will proactively engage with internal planning consultees, manage and coordinate our formal responses within negotiated timescales and ensure we provide appropriate quality outcomes across the full range of environmental matters in our remit including flood risk, groundwater and contaminated land, fisheries and biodiversity and waste.

Incident response remains a top priority for the Environment Agency.You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident.
This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
- The team 1
- The Sustainable Places team currently consists of 6 members coordinating & formulating responses to Local Authorities on both developmental planning & strategic planning documents such as Local Plans working towards ensuring appropriate environmental mitigation & pushing for improvement at every opportunity. Team members are currently working to a hybrid system with a couple of days in the office in Nottingham and the rest from home.
- Experience/skills required
- Political and commercial awareness of the growth agenda and development industry.

- Positive enthusiastic attitude with drive to seek innovative ways of working.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills; the ability to prioritise effectively.
- Strong customer service, communication and relationship building skills both written and verbal.
- Confident negotiation and influencing skills.
- Excellent problemsolving skills and the ability to make sound decisions based on competing or complex factors.
- Good understanding of our broad business and environmental activities.
- Importantly you will have energy and willingness to learn, a real desire to achieve the best environmental outcomes and a flexible, creative approach to move with our changing ways of working.
