An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Histopathology Department, Addenbrooke's Hospital in the role of Section Leader based in the Cut Up.


You will have extensive experience within Histopathology and have excellent organisational skills plus a high level of competency in maintenance of a high throughput service.


A strong team player, you will also possess excellent communication skills and must be able to take responsibility for day-to-day planning and prioritising of workload within the Cut Up area of the Histopathology Department.

  • To practice as a Section Leader in the Histopathology Department undertaking a wide variety of automated and nonautomated, complex analytical procedures requiring a high level of manual dexterity, prioritising and organising the workload to ensure continuity and efficiency of the service demonstrating expertise in Histopathological techniques.
  • This post involves staff supervision and management of a team within the Histopathology laboratory.
  • Participation in the Histopathology oncall and Saturday rota is mandatory.
  • This post will be expected to participate in and lead the development of laboratory workflow processes and development of extended working hours for the routine laboratory.
  • To participate in the Mohs' Clinic rota.
  • To participate in the oncall service
  • To participate in the implementation of new technology and processes
  • To undertake the preparation of histological specimens, on rotation through the department, with the main focus in Specimen Reception, fresh/ frozen pathways and Cut up.
