Transport Coordinator


Transport Coordinator coordinates all routes/deliveries and schedules to ensure that they reach their destinations safely, on time and in the most cost-effective way.


  • Working with clients and customers to ensure that the day to day operations run smoothly.
  • Managing a team of drivers.
  • General administration, collating driver hours & assisting with planning driver resource.
  • Dealing directly with customers, taking job bookings.
  • Making sure the operation meets its targets.
  • As a Transport Coordinator, you will be responsible for personnel, monitoring their progress and being their first point of contact should a problem arise making communication skills vital.
  • The Transport Coordinator must also be involved in strategic development and the maintaining of any administrative records, regularly communicating with the delivery drivers to ensure smooth operation.
  • Responsible for monitoring vehicle maintenance, MOTs, fines and road tax & liaising with the fleet department.
  • Ensuring that daily debrief reports are submitted.
  • Dealing with customer enquiries eta's or any delays.
  • Organising vehicle replacements.
  • Work closely with the planning department to execute their plans
  • On a rota system working on call evenings and weekends as required.


Making sure that all operations are carried out in line with UK and EU laws and regulations, including Good Distribution Practices & MHRA Guidelines.

These govern vehicle safety, controls on fuel emissions, driver hours, customs requirements.


Skills and Qualifications:


As a Transport Coordinator you would need:

  • Strong organisational skills for.
  • Excellent budget handling skills.
  • Geographical Knowledge.
  • The ability to think logically.
  • The ability to work flexibly and to make decisions quickly.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with people at all levels.
  • IT skills
