Location - Crawley

Salary - £40,000

Do you have 2 years previous experience in an in-house payroll position?

Are you able to manually calculate Statutory Sick Pay and Statutory Maternity Pay?

We have a fantastic opportunity in Crawley for a Payroll Controller to work for one of our clients.

In this role you will be working full-time Monday to Friday with the option for hybrid working after 2 months.


Responsibilities

  • Manually calculating SSP and SMP
  • Train and coach junior team members
  • Processing staff starting and returning from maternity leave
  • Updating sickness reports
  • Processing leavers
  • Calculating adjustments required, including prorata calculations
  • Completing end of period payroll reporting for review by the payroll manager
  • Supervise the Payroll Administrators and Payroll Support Administrator to ensure their work is up to date, and support with training where required
  • Liaising with the pension team to balance the pension contributions each payroll period
  • Support the Payroll Manager with the submission of HMRC RTI reporting
  • Support the Payroll Manager with payment of Taxes at the end of each payroll period and the payment of Class 1A NIC's in respect of Benefits in Kind
  • Produce and reconcile reports at the end of each payroll period for stakeholders
  • Creating and sending BACS files
  • Importing new starters to the payroll
  • Importing salary and cash allowances, and reconciling values with Human Resources reports
  • Importing timesheet values to the payroll (MegaPay by Intelligo) and reconciling values with Human Resources reports
  • Reconciling PAYE and completing payment paperwork
  • Supporting team members with dayto day queries
  • Other duties as deemed reasonable

Skills and Experience

  • Experience of training and coaching others
  • Experience with SSP and SMP manual calculations
  • A minimum of 2 years' inhouse payroll experience
  • Methodical, organised, and accurate
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office software
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent team player
