As such, we are now looking for an Events Fundraising Officer to support our Brand and Relationships team.

The Role


As our Events Fundraising Officer, you will help grow the number of individuals supporting the charity and fundraised income through a range of events and community initiatives.


Supporting the Community & Events Fundraising Manager, you will manage and develop a portfolio of charity-led and third-party events that will attract new and repeat supporters.

Working closely with the Supporter Engagement Team and the Community & Events Fundraising Assistant, you will also enhance the supporter experience for event participants and community fundraisers to maximise income and ensure a greater proportion of supporters become long-term repeat givers.


Specifically, you will:

  • Work with the Community & Events Fundraising Manager to develop and deliver charityled virtual, inperson, and hybrid events (e.g. Step Out for Yorkshire).
  • Lead and manage involvement with thirdparty events (e.g. Great North Run, Leeds Half Marathon, Selby Three Swans) including the recruitment of participants seeking to raise money for the charity, delivery of supporter journeys, and eventday representation.
  • Identify opportunities to expand the charity's event offer, developing costed business plans that outline risks, benefits, potential income and return on investment.
  • Work with colleagues in the Supporter Engagement and Marketing Teams to develop and implement plans that will generate participant numbers and income for each event to meet agreed targets.
  • Support community fundraisers undertaking their own challenge events and activities to ensure that income is maximised and fundraisers feel fully supported.
  • Lead on the delivery of supporter information events and liaise with companies and organisations who select Yorkshire Cancer Research to benefit from their own events (e.g. gala dinners, award ceremonies).
  • Carry out postevent analysis for charityled/key events, reviewing outcomes against original objectives and reflecting on learnings to inform future decisions.

About You
To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline or proven experience working in a similar role at a similar level.
  • Good understanding of community and event fundraiser motivations and requirements and the ability to translate this insight into compelling and attractive engagement opportunities.
  • Experience in fundraising, preferably Community & Events, within a charity context.
  • Previous experience working with databases and CRM platforms (e.g. Access or Raiser's Edge).
  • To be uptodate with the requirements of the Fundraising Regulator Code of Fundraising Practice and confident in adhering to these requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with an ability to use active listening skills, and write professionally and appropriately for a range of diverse audienc
