Lead Strength & Conditioning Coach

Head of Rugby

THE POST
To lead on all aspects of physical preparation for the Elite Rugby teams at The Henley College.

The role could also include free accommodation at our student residency acting as a house parent, and as a Personal and Professional Development (PPD) Coach outside of the Rugby Programme.


Key Aspects of the Role:


  • In collaboration with the Head of Rugby, plan the weekly, termly and yearly programme for physical development
  • Plan and deliver all strength/power programmes
  • Plan and deliver all speed training
  • Plan and deliver all conditioning training
  • Play a prominent role in the rehab programmes
  • Play a prominent role in the planning and delivery of Rugby sessions alongside the Rugby
  • Matchday duties as directed
  • Provide Personal and Professional Development (PPD) coaching as a performance coach, to identify and connect with students who need additional support, facilitating information flow between teachers, tutors and students.
  • Requirement to successfully complete a D1 driving course unless a D1 licence holder
  • Manage the gym enrichment offer

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION Essential skills and Characteristics

  • Undergraduate degree in Sport & Exercise science or related field
  • Evidence of coaching strength & conditioning in either a part time or fulltime role over the last two years.
  • Possessing an MSc and having experience in strength and conditioning within Rugby will be a significant advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills with people of all levels as well as interpersonal skills & able to problem solve with/between students

  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Ability to deal well with pressure and multi task
  • Full Driver's license essential and willing to drive mini bus (all training provided)
  • Should this role include the aspect of house parent, all rental costs for staff are covered by the college.

Hours of work**:
Permanent, All year Round 37 hours per week


Annual leave:23 days annual leave per leave year (1 September to 31 August), plus 8 bank holidays and up to 4 College Closure days.


Salary:
£23,628.00 per annum


Pension:
Local Government Pension Scheme (optional). This is an employee and employer contributory pension scheme.
