The role:


What will you be doing?
We're a specialist, market-leading employee benefits provider - with an ambitious future.

Unum UK are looking for a nearly or newly qualified Actuary with pricing experience to join our team. We would like this person to be technically strong, as well as an excellent communicator. Experience with Python or R would be an advantage.

Our Actuarial teams manage the pricing, reserve support and reporting for our businesses.

We have a robust development program that provides a rich learning environment for all levels, Actuarial Consultants are expected to move between functions & develop competence in the different Actuarial areas.


We operate a hybrid working model, we would like this person to be in Dorking 1 day per week, with at least 1 other day spent in Basingstoke, London or Dorking.


What will you bring?

What will you be doing?

  • To own Actuarial tasks, understand the broader business implications and to provide Actuarial and Senior Management with comprehensive insight into those tasks and their outcomes.
  • To proactively liaise with the broader business, provide expertise & guidance and to lead business thought in areas of expertise.
  • To be able to communicate confidently and effectively on technical topics to a wide range of audiences and to influence cross functional business decision making.

What will you bring?

  • Student or exstudent actuary with a high number of actuarial examination passes/significant experience.
  • Highly numerate.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with business stakeholders.
  • Motivated, enthusiastic and inquisitive.
  • The ability to work under pressure, managing own time to meet tight deadlines and managing competing and conflicting demands within your workload
