Up to £11.84 per hour

We have an opportunity for a Kitchen Assistant to join their team of staff in the Hotel Services department.


This is a bank role working on an "as and when required" basis, you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence.


Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • A calm, caring and empathic attitude towards patients, relatives & colleagues
  • Kitchen experience
  • Educated to college / HND level or industry experience equivalent
  • Knife skills and handling
  • Basic food hygiene
  • Understanding of COSHH and HACCP and safe working practices.
  • Manual handling training desirable
  • An ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels, with a commitment to collaborative working
  • Be willing to participate in flexible working as required
  • Must be well groomed, with a clean and tidy appearance, and prepared to adhere to the Hospital's uniform policy.

Duties of this role include:


  • To cover all kitchen duties as necessary.
  • Together with the Head Chef, hold service briefings for daily updates.
  • To ensure that all patients and visitors to the Hospital receive the agreed high quality food.
  • To ensure that all food is prepared to the agreed standard.
  • To ensure the associated documentation is completed and maintained in relation to visitors to backofhouse areas.
  • To understand and be fully competent in understanding and fulfilling the necessary and emergency procedures and alarms.
  • To contribute as a member of the multidisciplinary team, sharing an understanding of others and skills and priorities.
  • To safeguard the welfare and safety of clients and staff in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Regulations, COSHH, manual handling and fire regulations, company and local policies and procedures.
