Full time starting salary is normally in the range £45,585 to £54,395 with potential progression once in post to £61,198

Academic Development Programme:

- new Assistant Professors will undertake a 5-year development programme, at the end of which they are expected to be promoted to Associate Professor. The programme consists of a variety of development opportunities and the time to reflect and develop.


Background


We are looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Professor with a background in mathematics, statistics, data science or related disciplines who is excited about performing cutting-edge research with a real-world impact.

You will engage with and work closely with industrial and other external collaborators to deliver results that are not only scientifically exciting but also help to solve industrial and societal problems with transformative potential.

You will join our School at an exciting time of growth in this area, with colleagues working on problems in many areas including in health, sustainability, engineering or crime.


You will contribute to a range of Enterprise, Engagement and Impact activities, as well as to research, management and administration and to teaching and learning activities.

In addition, you will be expected to demonstrate academic citizenship, developing and maintaining generous, mutually respectful and supportive working relationships with all staff and students, and ensuring the way you carry out your role impacts positively on how others can carry out theirs.


Enterprise, Engagement and Impact activities may include developing and making substantial contributions to knowledge transfer, developing external networks, enterprise, business engagement, public engagement, widening participation, schools outreach, at School level or further within the University.


Teaching is likely to include a substantial appropriate contribution to: (a) the management, development and delivery of teaching and assessment; and (b) enhancement of the student experience and employability.

Some or all of the teaching may be tailored to Continuous Professional Development, learning networks, short courses and/or professional practice.

The role will typically also involve developing and advising others, including:
(a) providing expert advice to staff and students, (b) supervising and examining students, and (c) developing and advising others on learning and teaching tasks and methods.

Management and administration is likely to involve contributions at School level, and/or making an important contribution to some managerial/leadership (e.g. working groups) within the University.
