Bookkeeper on behalf of our thriving client based in
Rochdale.

Salary:
£27,000 - £30,000, dependent on experience

Location: Rochdale (OL12)

Hours: 35 hours per week, 7.5 hours per day Monday to Thursday (flexible on hours), and 2.30pm finish on a Friday


Our client are looking for a Bookkeeper who will be responsible for managing the finances of the business, and will work closely with the directors of the business as well as the external accountant.

This individual will be responsible for transactional duties such as Purchase Ledger and Sales Ledger, through to completing VAT Returns, posting journals, bank reconciliations and management accounts.


Duties will include but not be limited to:

Daily Tasks:


  • Check the bank accounts for receipts from customers and allocate on SAGE
  • Convert invoices to PDF and send out to customers
  • Back up Sage
  • Updating currencies on Sage with relevant exchange rate information
  • Checking DHL to make sure no outstanding payments to be made
  • Uploading invoices to Purchase Ledger and Sales Ledger, and reconciling statements

Weekly Tasks:


  • Payment run including requesting up to date statements from suppliers (checking statement against stock received)
  • Setting up payments for authorisation
  • Printing UPS statements and posting to Sage
  • Sending customer statements out, and advising of what is overdue
  • Credit Control in conjunction with the directors

Monthly Tasks:


  • Processing Payroll for a small number of employees
  • Submitting RTI to HMRC
  • Posting journals: wages, prepayments, depreciation accruals
  • Ensuring notes for journals match what is on Sage
  • VAT returns
  • Reconciling each business bank account
  • Printing out invoices and posting onto Sage

Transactional Duties:


  • Sales invoices 800 per month / 200 per week
  • Purchase invoices per month / 300 per week
  • Bank payments set up 60 per month / 15 per week

Ad hoc Duties:


  • Dealing with queries from customers and suppliers as required
  • Answering the phone and passing on messages
  • Helping with website orders

The required traits, skills, and background:

  • To be considered for this role it is essential that you have done an all-round accounts position, and have experience within VAT returns, reconciliations, HMRC and month end/year end account preparation, as well as day to day transactional duties
  • Experience with Sage 50 is also essential
  • Experience within an SME organisation would be desirable
  • ACCA, MAAT or CIMA qualifications would be advantageous
  • Strong communication skills
  • Great prioritisation and organisational skills
  • Reliable, dedicated and hardworking
  • Able to work efficiently in a standalone role
