Description

The ME/CFS Service was set up in 2018 to provide a specialist assessment and treatment service to patients in Hackney with myalgic encephalomyelitis/ chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/ CFS).

The Pain Service is an award-winning psychology/therapy led interdisciplinary team providing high quality pain management services to people in Hackney living with persistent pain.

The teams are closely linked and under the umbrella of the Locomotor Service, along with the newly established Long Covid service.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic newly qualified clinical, counselling or health psychologist preferably with some experience of working with clients with long term health conditions, to join our dynamic and innovative team of psychologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, nurse specialist, pharmacists and consultants working across both services.

With support from psychology, the teams work in a psychologically informed way and the multi-disciplinary teams are trained to use an acceptance and commitment framework to support our patients to live well even in the presence of pain and ME/CFS.

Psychological therapy is both highly valued and well-established within the teams and the successful applicant would work as a member of a team of psychologists who are skilled in a range of approaches including ACT, CBT, mindfulness and compassion focused approaches.

There may be opportunities to work with patients in the Long Covid Service, depending on experience and service need.

There are opportunities for development into a band 8a role if/where appropriate.

The service is based at St Leonard's Hospital in Hackney, close to Old Street and Hoxton Street Market with excellent transport links and good local amenities.
