City Day Surgery Theatres are looking for an innovative and forward thinking support worker to assist in our busy and ever-changing specialty.

We are looking for a motivated person to work in Day Surgery Theatres.

You must be committed to a high standard of patient care, have a flexible attitude to work and be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Theatre knowledge is not essential.

Main duties of the job

You will be able to demonstrate a flexible approach to work and show commitment and enthusiasm.

You will be able to show good interpersonal skills and the ability to use own initiative along with effective planning and organisation of your time and the ability to work under pressure.


You will be required to work within a team providing a presence in the clinical area ensuring Trust values and behaviours, theatre etiquette, policies and procedures are appropriately followed in addition to motivating the team providing a positive influence to improve theatre efficiency and ensure patients receive a high quality of safe and efficient care in a timely fashion.

You will be expected to work collaboratively with theatre practitioners and clinicians within Day Surgery theatres; you should have an enthusiastic approach and be a team player with a flexible attitude to service needs.

Hours of work are 37.5 flexibly over 5 days and may include weekends and bank holidays.

Person specification

Training and Qualifications/ Experience/Communication skills

Essential criteria

  • A willingness to study at level 2 NVQ
  • Experience in a care environment
  • Has experience working as part of a team
  • Able to communicate clearly both verbally and in written format
  • Awareness of the need to be flexible in working practices
Desirable criteria

  • Has NVQ level 2/3 in Care
  • Previous experience in a day surgery environment
  • Demonstrate IT skills eg word, excel etc.
Commitment to Trust Values and behaviours

Essential criteria

  • Must be able to demonstrate behaviours consistant with the Trusts V+B.
Desirable criteria

  • Awareness of the Trusts V+B
Communication skills

Essential criteria

  • Able to communicate clearly verbally
  • Understands and practices the principles of confidentiality

Salary:
The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.

NUH will scan your ID and right to work documentation in to the Trust ID system at your face to face ID appointment.

The system will run a check against the key security features within your documentation.

The system will provide us with an outcome of your check which will be stored securely on your personal file along with all other pre-employment check documentation.
