Senior Digital Communications Officer (Websites) - Communications and Engagement

£ £16.58 per hour

FTC until 28 July 2023

Tootal Buildings, Manchester City Centre

36.25 hours per week

The role:

The demand for accessible, engaging digital content is greater than ever before.

We're looking for someone to play a vital role in the content creation, administration, and performance measurement of Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) and GreaterManchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) websites.

The postholder will also support the Senior Digital Manager and other colleagues to develop and deliver a new intranet.

You will work on content design, sitemaps, templates, user experience, community management and more, to deliver and maintain the final productbeyond launch.


Through our wide range of online platforms, you will help us tell the story of Greater Manchester and the work being done across a range of priority areas for our city region - from the environment and young people, through to fire and rescue and improvingoutcomes for older people.


About you:


We need someone with an aptitude for the creative and the technical to help us deliver high quality, engaging digital content across our websites and intranet.

You will be an experienced website administrator with an excellent understanding of content management systems - ideally, Umbraco and Sharepoint Online.

And, although this role is content-focused, rather than code/development focused, the post holder will needa basic knowledge of HTML/CSS.

The role requires someone with a good writing ability as well as highly proficient ICT skills.


You'll also be:
- able to check for and fix Accessibility issues on websites
- at home with Google Analytics and other administrative platforms
- a good people person - able to coach web authors and teach non-technical colleagues
- a good communicator with creative flair and an eye for engaging graphics
- a quick learner with a knack for testing and troubleshooting
- adaptable, enthusiastic, and able to switch between different tasks to support colleagues
- great in a team or working on your own
