Mount Pleasant Health Centre is one of the largest training practices in Exeter, serving over 17,000 patients in a purpose-built premises.

We are a SystmOne Practice.

We pride ourselves on being a friendly and caring place to work, with an open-door policy and daily team meetings where there is no such thing as a stupid question.

As a result, the majority of our GP team is made up of doctors who were once trainees at the practice and enjoyed it so much they decided to stay.


Apprenticeship summary

What will the apprentice be doing?
The role of a medical receptionist/administrator is the face of the practice to patients and other visitors.

we are looking for an apprentice who is friendly, presentable and willing to contribute as a team player to the smooth running of the practice.

List of Job responsibilities;

  • Answering phone calls in a timely manner
- eConsultation

  • Processing appointments
  • Signposting patients to appropriated healthcare services
  • Processing repeated prescriptions
  • Front desk duties and receiving patients
  • Registration on new patients
  • Scanning
  • Accurately record and update patients' data
  • Deal with general enquiries
  • General reception duties
  • Assist with cancelling and rescheduling appointments as required
  • Updating the computerised appointments system as required
  • Liaising with local hospitals, pharmacies and other health care professionals as required
  • Ensure confidentiality of all records

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Business Admin level 3 Apprenticeship; training in the workplace provided by PMA Ltd.


You will have on the job training within the organisation and have an assigned assessor who will provide you with additional training sessions and assessments to gain the business administrator qualification.

The salary will be agreed upon appointment

Our Operating hours are Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 18:00.

Total hours per week: 37.5 hours a week
