Description
Applications are invited for a Post-Doctoral Research Associate to work in the rapidly growing Neuro-Oncology field in Manchester.

Specifically, the post holder will join Dr Gerben Borst's dynamic new team and will focus on the Tumour Treating Fields (TTFields) program of work.

This post is available immediately for 12 months. The role will be based at the University Manchester in the new state-of-the-art Cancer Research Paterson Building.

This position offers a unique and exciting opportunity for a highly motivated scientist to gain experience of early phase clinical trials, pre-clinical in-vivo and in-vitro models and translational research in leading UK and European organisations.

A key part of the role will be researching Tumour Treating Fields (TTFields) which is a novel non-invasive anticancer treatment modality utilizing alternating electric fields delivered via insulated transducers.

The post holder will undertake research and experiments with TTFields and utilise a broad range of innovative in vitro and in vivo techniques to facilitate preclinical, clinical and translational research into treatment options for glioblastoma.

The successful applicant will primarily work as part of the CRUK RadNet Manchester Unit, which was one of only three major units awarded and builds on the 10-year history of an external collaborating "One Manchester" approach to cancer team science in radiotherapy-related research (RRR).

This has been achieved by our multi-disciplinary expertise in biology, clinical oncology, physics, software development, engineering and imaging.

Manchester is recognised nationally as a Clinical and Translational Radiotherapy Research Working Group (CTRad) Centre of Excellence in Radiotherapy Research and the only centre in the UK with strength across all disciplines (biology, clinical, physics, technology).

As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status.
