The Paediatric Tier 3 complications in excess weight (CEW) service uses a holistic approach to treating conditions related to obesity in children and young people.

Young people will receive 12 to 18 months of intensive treatment from the MDT with the aim to improving health complications linked to their weight.

Referrals to CEW for young people aged years old are based on the degree of obesity and the presence of comorbidities.

This post will support the Physiotherapist and wider MDT in promoting inclusivity for our CEW patients, encouraging physical activity and reducing sedentary behaviours.

You will support:

Our spoke sites in Derby and Kings Mill (which will include attending clinics and community visit), plus virtual support to our spoke hub in Lincoln on Tuesdays & Wednesdays.

Therefore, it is essential that you are car driver.

Our Nottinghamshire out-patient clinics based at NUH on Thursdays and Fridays

The CEW service is currently within a pilot stage (until 31/3/25) and future funding arrangements of the service are being explored.

You will provide assessment and advice/treatment to Children, Young people and their families who attend the East Midlands CEW Clinics under the supervision of the Band 7 Physiotherapist (once competencies have been met).

You will work within an experienced MDT (including a Physiotherapist, Consultants, Clinical Fellow, Dietitian, Social Worker, Specialist Nurse, Clinical Psychologist, and Family support worker).

You will need to be able to work as part of team whilst being able to manage your own caseload too.

It is essential that you have worked as a Therapy Support worker previously.

The Nottingham Children's Hospital (NCH) is based at the Queens Medical Centre campus and is part of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH).
