If you are keen to learn and passionate about wanting to help people, then the Maternity department is the ideal place for you to work as a Maternity Support Worker.


We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable person to join our team who is able to work flexibly within the shift patterns on our very busy maternity wards, this includes some bank holidays.

You will be expected to rotate onto both days and night duties.

Training and development will be provided, and an outstanding team will be there to support and work alongside you. You will also undertake the Trust Induction and our Care Support Worker Programmes.


You should have excellent organisational, time-management and interpersonal skills and an ability to work within a team and on your own initiative is essential.

You must be open to change and interested in your own personal development.

You must have the ability to communicate effectively and be flexible within the existing shift system and have an appreciation of the principles of confidentiality.


Working under the direct supervision and guidance of the midwife, you must be a team player, responsible for providing a wide range of care and duties to support women and their families.

The Maternity Support Worker is a valuable member of the team that delivers clinical care under the supervision of a registered midwife.

The post holder will work within a multi-disciplinary team of both midwives and medical staff within the maternity service to provide high quality care, support and advice to women and their partners in the maternity setting.


  • As a member of the multidisciplinary team the post holder will contribute to the delivery of patients' individual care under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse.
  • Perform a full range of manual and clerical duties.
  • Supports registered midwives in the provision of a safe and caring environment.
  • To practice in accordance with Trust standards and statutory requirements and operate within the boundaries of the role and assessed competencies.
  • To act as a role model for student nurses and colleagues.
