Our Head Office is based in Llantrisant, South Wales, but we operate a HGV network that services mainly Wales and the West, and pride ourselves on engaging the very best people who share our values and determination to maintain the highest standards at every stage of the customer experience.


Due to rapid expansion, we are looking to recruit an additional 3 experienced Transport Planners to help ensure that our HGV General Haulage Operations fulfil our delivery promises to our clients and customers.


The role will involve vehicle routing, consolidation of loads, sourcing back loads and assisting in the day-to-day operation of a busy and diverse Transport Office.


Tasks include:


  • The efficient planning and routing of a fleet of HGV vehicles to ensure maximum profitability
  • Assist with the scheduling of vehicles and trailers for service/ maintenance checks
  • Sourcing Backloads
  • Communicating with Drivers, Customers and Sub-Contractors
  • Accurately processing jobs using transport management software
  • Processing drivers run sheets and job allocations
  • Assisting drivers with job information and troubleshooting problems
  • Ensuring that drivers are compliant with drivers' hours and working time regulations

Attributes required

  • Previous experience working in a routing and planning a fleet of HGV vehicles in the UK
  • Good geographical knowledge
  • Working knowledge of current legislation on regulations on drivers' hours
  • Ability to plan and prioritise work meeting strict deadlines
  • A strong working knowledge of Office based IT including Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Excellent Customer service skills
  • Strong written, numerical and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptionally good attention to detail
  • Adaptability and resilience in a pressurised environment
