This is a position in the Education Business Centre, which is a service within the Education Department of Gwynedd Council.

This is a good opportunity to join a team of other administrators who support Gwynedd's primary schools.

The role offers various work experiences and is a good opportunity to develop yourself in the administration field.

The Education Business Center is located in the Council's offices in Pwllheli.

We are very flexible in terms of the ratio of working from home to working in the office, but expect staff to work at least one day each week in the office during the school term. We offer a flexible working plan where it is possible to accumulate flexible hours and exchange it for time off work.

The job is a school term (41 weeks) with the need to work up to 10 days a year during the school holidays.

The applicant will be required to reach the linguistic level noted as one of the essential skills in the Person Specification.

Qualifications and relevant training:


Essential:

Experience of working or a recognised qualification in one of the following fields:
Administration/Information Technology/Business/Finance


Desirable:

Equivalent to NVQ3 in administration or other relevant qualification.

IT qualifications relevant to the post.


Relevant experience:


Essential:

Previous administrative work undertaken.

Experience of working as part of a team.


Desirable:

Extensive awareness of the work of the Education Department and Schools.

Experience of financial work.


Skills and specialist knowledge:


Essential:

Good communication skills - oral and written.

Familiar with Microsoft Office 2016 software.


Desirable:

Experience of working on SIMS and FMS systems.

Awareness of internet use.

Listening and Speaking - Higher Level:

Able to follow a conversation or discussion through the medium of Welsh and English on a professional level and discuss general day to day topics in the field in order to present information and express opinions.

Able to give a pre-prepared presentation and respond to any comments and questions on it in Welsh or English.


Reading and Understanding - Higher Level:
Able to understand standard written Welsh and English; both formal and informal.

Able to gather information from various sources such as letters, reports, articles through the medium of Welsh and English in order to fulfil the post.


Writing - Higher Level:


Present written information confidently by letter, more detailed and technical report formats, and respond to written requests conveying information, ideas and opinion in Welsh and English (help is available to check the work).

Main duties:


The main purpose of the post is to provide a quality administrative and financial service to a cluster of primary schools in Gwynedd.


To provide first class administrative support to the schools in accordance with the Service Level Agreement and the services in which the schools have invested in.

The Assistant will contribute positively to the ethos/work and general objectives of the schools and the Education Business Centre.
