  • Work for an organisation steeped in history with a front row seat for the digitalisation of the financial sector, and the rise of rise of fintech and regtech. A core organisational strength, with our people at our centre, Technology enable the Bank of England to deliver its mission by providing a hugely diverse set of technical solutions and platforms. From supporting critical systems which underpin the UK economy, to evolving data analytics, reinventing our online presence, and introducing a fully digital workplace. • We take pride in our people, with backgrounds and experiences as diverse as the solutions they provide. Department Overview
***- The Digital Workplace domain is part of the Bank's Product Development Division, and is responsible for selecting, delivering and continuously improving a portfolio of digital services that help colleagues across Bank to collaborate, communicate and be productive irrespective of role, device or location.

  • The Bank of England is at the start of its journey to using Microsoft 365 Technologies, having already rolled out MS Teams for Chat and Conferencing, migrating Collaborate to SharePoint Online and finalising the migration to Exchange Online. As we begin to utilise more technologies within the Microsoft 365 space, this role will be crucial in helping the Bank modernise its colleagues to help us understand how we make the best use of the services available.
  • This role is a very exciting opportunity for a technical expert who can help deliver new solutions, enhance existing solutions, but also get hands on in supporting these

A day in the role

  • A typical day would start with the team's standup meeting for the current sprint where you'll discuss your workload and any blockers. Next, you'll likely have some project work to do or need to attend a project meeting where you'll be modernising the Bank through the services you're responsible for. After that, you'll draft and raise a change request through the Bank's formal processes to change or update a policy in the Teams Admin Console the following week. If you're in the office, you'll grab lunch in the canteen with some of your colleagues. In the afternoon, you'll tackle a support call from a user about a MS Teams Issue, and ensure our monitoring tools haven't alerted us to anything untoward. Once you've sorted that call, you'll document the fix so that colleagues in your team, and more widely, better understand the services you support. The rest of the afternoon could be spent doing some research or chatting to Microsoft about the next exciting feature that they are releasing to determine if we need to do anything to support the release, or recommending a change that would benefit our users.
  • It is important to note that the Bank has a robust ITIL Change Management process, has business critical processes that depend on our M365 tools, and requires incidents on these technologies to be resolved quickly. Because of this, you will also need to work evenings and weekends to perform certain tasks, especially on live systems. Payment for this is in the base salary there is no additional renumeration available for this.
