Description
The post holder will assist with providing a welcoming and efficient service for Speech and Language Therapy.

This will include signposting services and the public, processing service user details using electronic systems, consulting with clinicians and colleagues to facilitate a response service for speech and language therapy service users and the clinical team across the borough.

The role will include supporting of general administration functions to ensure the smooth running of the service.

Demonstrate a caring and professional approach towards service users and the public when performing reception or clerical duties.

Escalate service user queries to the relevant clinical staff as appropriate.

Show a caring and professional approach towards service users and carers via telephone or face to face. This may require acting with resilience to deal with sometimes distressed service users in an empathic manner.


Clerical duties:
maintaining accurate electronic filing systems, diary management, scanning clinical notes if required. Maintain patient information. Inputting patient data accurately and timely. Supporting discharge and archiving processes

The team provides supervision and support to all staff and support with the apprenticeship programme. The team is led by a strong leadership team who co-ordinate services and report on performance and quality. Responsibilities:

Check and update service user details. Open / close referrals to the Speech and Language Therapy service.

Type letters and arrange appointments for service users/ patients.

Support booking of workshops.


Input outcomes of appointments on Careflow, including those who did not attend on relevant patient administration system or other relevant computer systems in a timely and accurate manner according to Trust Policy.

Scan and upload documents to Mediviewer or other electronic systems.

Support discharge and archiving processes.

Input paper friends and family returns

Take part in departmental audits and associated duties.

Attend training courses as required to support personal development and the needs of the service.

Management and Leadership Responsibilities

If and when appropriate and directed, order and/or receipt stationery and essential items in line with Trust policies.
