Steelworks Estimator

£40,000-£55,000

Wickford, Essex
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Estimator based in Essex.


We are looking for a self-motivated individual who can use their own initiative to prioritise tasks to effectively complete tasks in the required deadlines.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day commercial activities across a diverse range of projects, maximising value, margin, and market share and collaborating with Directors and Quantity Surveyors on contractual matters.


Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake estimates from clients.
  • Liaising on multiple Steelworks projects.
  • Identify opportunity and risk during the tender process.
  • Return Tender prices using pricing schedules.
  • Understand and resolve complex technical, strategic, and business issues.
  • Manage the handover process (to Operations) for all secured opportunities.
  • Interface with all parts of business as necessary for the completion of bids and proposals.
  • Perform a review of win and loss opportunities to ensure key lessons are learned.
  • Reviewing trends and carrying out data analysis to identify areas for improvement.
  • Identify, agree, and deliver on key performance indicators for the Role.

Experience and Qualifications:


  • Previous experience in Steelwork estimating (5 years minimum)
  • Previous experience working on steelwork projects.
  • Structural & architectural estimating experience essential.
  • Strong planning, organisation and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritise work under pressure whilst meeting tight deadlines
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel & Word.
  • Contractual awareness.
  • Experience of preparing Extension of Time and loss & expense claims.
  • Able to work under pressure, meet deadlines and be decisive in judgements.
  • Clear communication skills and ability to collaborate as part of a team.
