This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a central team that provides expert support to all Sopra Steria Ltd.

(SSL) services and their clients, working with a breadth of internal and external stakeholders as well as other Sopra Steria business areas covering a variety of topics.

Reporting to the UK Director of Information Governance & Counter Fraud, the SSL Head of Privacy leads the Information Governance function business wide, including management of a small team, and has the benefit of collaboration with peer teams across the group.


If you are up for a role that will enable you to challenge whilst developing and implementing new ways of working across the business, as well as managing a busy existing workload - ensuring appropriate governance to compliance arrangements are in place, then this is the role for you.

The role will help to ensure that SSL complies with Data Protection Legislation, providing assurances to SSL that we are protecting the personal and commercially valuable data SSL processes every day.

The role will involve some travel to SSL, Group or Client sites where SSL operate services.


What you will be doing:


  • Support and manage an annual Information Governance programme which underpins the breadth of SSL services, their clients and meet agreed contractual obligations for the business.
  • Manage the Privacy team resources to ensure that the business is ably supported, with appropriate skills.
  • Oversee and ensure timely completion and provision of Data Protection Impact Assessments and Change Controls to enable privacy by design and default. Promote and build a culture of positive engagement with such processes across the business.
  • Provide direct support to the DPO, UK Director of Information Governance & Counter Fraud and nominated Senior Stakeholders to ensure safe practices in Data
  • Protection / Information Governance are in place across the business.
  • Be author/responsible owner on local Data Protection / Information Governance related corporate policies and procedures and ensure timely updates are provided in line with agreed review dates. Lead the development and regular auditing of related procedures and guidance documents.
  • Contribute to ensuring that SSL's systems and processes meet all the required informationrelated legislative and regulatory obligations
  • Lead the implementation of good practice information management principles, working with staff at all levels, particularly engaging with our Information Asset Owners to embed a culture shift.
  • Work with various Stakeholders in SSL, including Senior Business Leaders and Information Security personnel to develop an organisational culture to support strong
  • Information Governance practices through the training, awareness, and support for staff.
  • Lead the development of an environment for appropriate information and data sharing, driven by SSL's organisational objectives.
  • Lead on ensuring information governance activities are integrated into the core business functions.

What you'll bring:


  • Ability to prioritise and work on own initiative with mínimal supervision.
  • Good organisational and planning skills.
  • Experienced understanding of the Data Protection Legislation requirements
  • Accurate record keeping and attention to detail.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships at all levels.
  • Excellent interpersonal and skills. Highly developed influencing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills verbal and written.

It would be great if you had:

  • Data Protection Compliance experience or training (e.g. CIPP/E and or CIPM)
  • Experience in managing a team; with a mix of skills and objectives.
