Bethel Street Police Station (Temporarily Relocated to Wymondham PIC)
Full Time (37 Hours) - Permanent
£26,232 - £29,433 per annum plus shift and weekend working allowances
Friday 23 June 2023 at 5pm


This post is based at Bethel Street Police Station but will be temporarily relocated to Wymondham PIC during refurbishment of Bethel Street.

Applications are invited for the post of Identification Procedures Coordinator within the Joint Identification Unit.

The role of the unit is to provide a full Designated Identification service to Authorising Inspectors. This includes communicating with authorising Inspectors, witnesses/ victims of crime, suspects and solicitors.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop the skills associated with Identification Procedures and securing an evidential chain where there is a dispute concerning identification of the offender.


It is essential that applicants meet the following criteria:

  • Good numeracy and literacy skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with members of the public and staff/officers of all levels
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with experience of dealing effectively with sensitive and confrontational issues/situations
  • Demonstrate an ability to take evidential statements
  • Basic keyboard skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and an aptitude to learn other computerised systems
  • Full driving licence with the ability to travel throughout Norfolk and Suffolk as required
  • Ability to work unsocial hours including evenings and weekends as part of a shift pattern

It is desirable that applicants meet the following criteria:

  • Knowledge of the legal system to include PACE, Disclosure and relevant Case Law


Hours of work are an average of 37 per week on a rotating 5 week shift pattern, which will include late turn and weekend working for which the appropriate allowance will be paid.

This post is offered on a permanent basis.


Consideration will be given to whether the post can be delivered on either a part time or job share basis, in line with the organisational requirements of this role.
