They currently require a Director of Building Surveying to lead their London Building Surveying division at their office in London.

The role reports directly to the Business Unit Director, and has a team of Associate, Senior and Junior Surveyors to assist withdelivery.

The work streams are varied and include both the professional services and project management. Clients range from TDD for large investment banks through to the contract admin on public sector frameworks.

The business views London Building Surveying as a key growth area and are investing heavily into attracting new people to grow the business over the next 3 years.

The Role

The Director of Building Surveying role will hold responsibility for London and the South, assisting with setting and delivering the divisional business strategy and overall company objectives.

Main duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Support with the production and delivering of the divisional business plan, including networking and marketing activity to deliver in line with that plan
  • To provide support and assistance in all professional work and client management including bid proposals, instructions and internal project monitoring, whilst working in collaboration with other staff
  • To provide management of the Building Surveying function in London managing quality, workload planning and financial management of teams
  • To provide financial management of the London part of the division including reporting, updating and maintenance of fee forecasts to ensure targets are met as per agreed timescales and processes
  • Attend and actively contribute to Divisional Executive meetings. Direct, attend and participate in staff meetings and related activities as necessary
  • To undertake contract management and/or monitoring work as appropriate opportunities arise
  • To pursue business generation opportunities to introduce new work from either new or existing clients and build the London team in line with business plan
  • Update and maintain Business Development processes including opportunities tracker and marketing plan
  • Recruitment to support business plan/company objectives

As a Director of Building Surveying you will have a considerable amount of Building Surveying experience at a senior level and hold professional qualifications and memberships.


  • Hold full membership of RICS or equivalent
  • A range of building surveying experience covering all aspects of the work at senior level
  • Strategy development and implementation
  • Experience in a range of sectors
  • Strong relationship management and interpersonal skills coupled with excellent communication, influencing and negotiating skills
  • Change management
  • Multiple Project/Service activity management
  • Experience of using various standard contract forms and procurement routes
  • Experience of managing budgets and delivering on time to cost and quality
