Description

Our unit at Beeding in Worthing are a very friendly team and has 2 High Dependency cots and 10 Special Care cots.

We belong to the Kent, Sussex and Surrey Network who we work closely with.

We have a sister unit at SCBU at Chichester who has the same number of cots and have an experienced Neonatal Outreach Sister who will support you with this role.

As part to our Trust, we also work closely with our Tertiary Unit at Trevor Mann Baby Unit, a NICU and another SCBU at Hayward's Heath.

The post holder will be a proficient clinical practitioner who will take charge of the ward in the absence of the ward sister.

They will support the ward sister in her role and will be able to supervise, mentor and teach junior staff, acting as a role-model, in order to ensure that optimum standards of care are delivered at all times to neonates and their families.

They will be involved in the recruitment and selection of staff and in developing their personal development plans.

In conjunction with the ward sister they are responsible for ensuring that trust policies and procedures are adhered to and that trust objectives are met.

The role is a 70% split to support the ward as Deputy Sister and then 30% split to work as a Neonatal Outreach Sister (NON) to providing care and support for the neonate within a home environment, to facilitate the smooth transition of care form hospital to the community, taking the lead for all discharge planning within the ward.
