Kitchen Assistant

Reporting to:
Head Chef


Location:
In-person position at a bustling members club lounge and event space at The Orchard, One Great Cumberland Place.


Job Purpose:
Supporting food development and the service team to be able to deliver highest class service.


The Role:

As a Kitchen Assistant at x+why, you play a crucial role in supporting the seamless operations of our culinary team in delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guests.

Working alongside the Chefs, you will contribute to food preparation, kitchen organization, and cleanliness, ensuring that our club's standards of quality and service are consistently met.


You will deliver this by (roles/responsibilities

  • Assist with basic food preparation tasks, such as chopping vegetables, peeling, and portioning ingredients.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, following hygiene and safety guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure efficient flow of operations during service.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory, notifying the Head Chef when items are running low
  • Assist in receiving, unpacking, and storing of new inventory
  • Assist in setting up and restocking food stations, ensuring availability of ingredients and supplies.
  • Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment, and maintain cleanliness of kitchen surfaces.
  • Dispose of waste and follow proper disposal procedures, contributing to a sustainable kitchen environment.
  • Assist with routine kitchen tasks as directed by the Head Chef or Sous Chef.

Person Specification:


Experience

Essential or Desired
Proven experience as a Kitchen Assistant or similar, within a private members club or high-end restaurant
Experience working in kitchens prioritising sustainable practices and wastage solutions

Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment
Culinary or food-related education or training.
Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards

Capable of working in a fast-paced environment and ability to adapt under pressure
Enthusiasm and eagerness to support the kitchen team and contribute to a smooth kitchen operation.
