As part of this ambition, we are investigating all options to improve and expand our renewable energy generation, including through deploying solar PV and potentially battery storage.

We are already the largest producer of renewable energy in the UK water industry and have committed to our customers to increase year-on-year the renewable energy we produce.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the solar PV and storage programme within Thames Water Ventures Renewable Energy Team.


What you will be doing?:


  • Operate as 'Owners Engineer' collaborating with TW Operations and Asset Management teams to ensure that solar project designs comply with both operational needs, Asset, and engineering standards.
  • Technical compliance regarding the integration of, civil, mechanical and electrical design of the solar projects into the existing operational asset base, providing technical assurance, whilst mitigating risks and impact.
  • Serve as an interface between the Solar engineering team and Operations, Environmental, Health & Safety and Procurement.
  • Manage the Solar Engineering team function.
  • Deliver technically compliant Solar projects in line with TW asset standards.
  • Ensure operational risk is not impacted by the integration of the Solar projects gaining approval from internal stakeholders.
  • Provision of highquality projects, delivering a credible track record and relationship with key stakeholders.
  • Support the ongoing Solar activities across the business to ensure this is done safely
  • Work collaboratively across the business to build exceptional stakeholder relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to drive down risks.
  • Performance management of internal resources and external service providers to ensure that all transactions are conducted professionally and efficiently;

What will you bring to the role?:

  • A Chartered Engineering qualification in engineering
  • Experience with technical/engineering projects and contractors in complex operational environments.
  • Water Industry would be advantageous.
  • Relevant experience in Technical/Engineering management of other renewable or equivalent projects would be considered
  • Experience in leading crossbusiness and multidisciplinary teams and governance processes
  • Strong presentation skills, with the ability to produce material timely, and at high quality including executive/directorlevel audiences
  • Reliable professional who readily accepts challenges and accountability for results
  • Solid communication, influencing and reportwriting skills

As part of your role, you'll be required to participate in a rota to provideCustomer Incident Support, as requested by the Company from time to time.

This may be by supporting our customers on the frontline as an Ambassador or being part of the team managing the incident as a Control Tower Lead.
