Priory Lakeside View cares for adults of working age with acute mental health care needs within a safe, therapeutic environment in Willenhall, West Midlands.

We aim to provide a person-centred approach that promotes collaborative care planning to optimise treatment goals.

From the point of admission into our acute services, we aim to support service users' safe discharge back into the community where they can continue to progress towards recovery in a less restrictive environment.


The aim of our service is to act as an extension to NHS care pathways during times of fluctuating capacity and flow, allowing many service users' to receive care and treatment closer to home.

This will provide continuity of care and aim to minimise disruption to service users' and their loved ones.

The hospital has 28 beds consisting of three wards:
Swan Ward - 8 bedded female acute

Robin Ward - 8 bedded male acute

Finch Ward - 12 bedded male acute


Our aim is to:

  • Act as an extension to NHS care pathways during times of fluctuating capacity and flow
  • Allow more people to receive care and treatment closer to home
  • Provide continuity of care
  • Allow for minimum disruption to service users and their loved ones


Each of our wards provides service users with excellent space and facilities, including en-suite bedrooms and large living spaces furnished with activity equipment such as game consoles.

Outside of the wards, a purpose-built therapy suite contains a rehabilitation kitchen for patient cooking sessions, and a sessional therapy room.

The hospital is set in the centre of an extensive nature reserve, which also houses an abundance of fauna and flora.


The clinical team at Lakeside View encourage full involvement of each individual, their family and external professionals throughout their stay.

Individuals are invited to attend ward reviews and care planning approach (CPA) meetings to ensure clear communication throughout the care pathway in order to promote their recovery and facilitate discharge


The Principal Psychologist will work closely with members of the hospital SMT; including the Hospital Director, Director of Clinical Services and Medical Director, to implement an innovative and evidence-based psychology pathway across the hospital, and ensure the implementation of a high quality psychology department.


You will be responsible for individual and group psychological interventions, diagnostic and cognitive assessments, risk assessments, facilitation of staff reflective practice sessions and will also be involved in the development and delivery of bespoke training.


You will line manage the Assistant Psychologist and provide supervision for them, and any Psychology students at site, to provide a cohesive therapeutic service to enhance to the experience and recovery of our service users.


As a Principal Psychologist you will have experience and knowledge in carrying a service users caseload, including assessing service users with varied and complex mental health diagnosis, personality disorders, autism and associated challenges.

You will be confident and accomplished in the design and delivery of specialist brief psychological treatment, interventions & assessments with our patients, which will promote stabilisation and help our patients achieve a successful discharge (in line with an Acute Service Treatment and Recovery Pathway).


You will work be working with a dynamic multi-professional team and support the development of individualised care plans and risk assessments.

You will provide diagrammatic formulations to help with the reduction of risk and support ward safety whilst maintaining maximum patient independence.

You will provide consultation and advice to professional staff from other disciplines on psychological assessment, therapy and techniques for working effectively with particular service users.

You will be responsible for the delivery of reflective practice sessions to the staff team and support with onsite bespoke training sessions and induction, promoting the importance of Psychologically and therapeutically informed delivery of care.
