The Shift Team Leader will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the Solution Shop and Small Decant Area.

The Shift Team Leader will organise and deploy the operators on their shift to ensure the achievement of the production plan.


Responsibilities and Duties:

Manage and Maintain

  • Report directly to the Production Manager
  • Work closely with Operators, Team Leaders, Supervisors and Managers in your own and other departments
  • Work in accordance with the company's core values of Safety, Care and Trust
  • Work safely and always promote safe working practices in compliance with national and company standards
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with all company procedures including works instructions, protocols, operating procedures, documentation, and checklists, onepoint lessons
  • Deploy people and equipment resource as appropriate to ensure cost effective, safe and efficient operation of all activities
  • Allocate team members to tasks in accordance with production requirements and operator competence
  • Ensure all operatives are aware of production targets and regularly monitor performance
  • Manage changes to the production plan as required
  • Request materials and packaging as required to complete the production plan
  • Manage PPE requirements for all operatives
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping to ensure that all work and rest areas are clean, tidy, organised and controlled
  • Operate and monitor plant and equipment as required by the operational demands of the facility
  • Be able to implement emergency procedures and instructions calmly and effectively in pressure situations
  • Provide effective training and mentoring of shift staff to ensure personnel are competent to undertake their duties
  • Liaise with other colleagues as required to provide efficient work scheduling and planning
  • Carry out other reasonable tasks and duties as requested by management
  • Maintain high standards of quality control at all times. Making judgements on quality and escalating any issues
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping
  • Create and develop Standard Operating Procedures (work instructions, protocols, onepoint lessons etc)
  • Conduct relevant risk assessments in conjunction with the compliance team
  • Perform a handover with other Shift Team Leaders as appropriate
  • Conduct start of shift team meetings
  • Be responsible for safely closing the manufacturing sites at the end of the shift
Measure and Improve

  • Record and analyse production data as required
  • Provide effective administration and work within the Company Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Systems
  • Assist and advise with plant improvements and modifications
  • To constantly improve and develop the manufacturing process to ensure an efficient operation
  • Record and escalate any issues affecting line/ team performance and carry out actions that have been agreed in order to correct any losses
  • Support the investigation of any nonconforming processes/ products in order to reduce waste
  • Report any issues constraining production and/or teamwork
  • Support the Production Manager in the implementation and improvement of procedures and processes
  • Collate relevant performance information and maintain uptodate communications for area of responsibility using visual displays wherever possible
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and the elimination of waste (inventory, motion, quality etc) in the process. Follow these up, ensuring correct approvals and authorisations are obtained
  • Facilitate improvement activities in line with company best practice
Human Resources

  • Support selection and recruitment activities
  • Develop the capabilities of the team and individuals by performance measurement, regular appraisals, and motivation
  • Maintain upto date and accurate Time and Attendance information. Manage holidays, sickness, and other absence in line with company policy. Conduct returntowork interviews
  • Manage any employee relations issues at the initial stages including disciplinary investigations
  • Support performance management processes such as disciplinary and grievance as required
