An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Coronial Service within the Inner West London jurisdiction as a Coroner Administrative Assistant and Court Usher.

We are seeking a dedicated individual to provide essential administrative support to the HM Coroner, Deputy Coroners, Coroner's Court Manager, and the Metropolitan Police Coroner's Officers.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Assist and support HM Coroner, Deputy Coroners, Coroner's Court Manager, and Metropolitan Police Coroner's Officers with administrative duties related to the investigation of deaths referred to the Coronial Service.
  • Provide general administrative support within the offices of the Coroner's jurisdiction, including managing correspondence, organising meetings, and handling telephone queries.
  • Enter data received by the Coroner's Court into a bespoke case management system and other IT systems.
  • Assist in managing the court diary and jury inquests, including swearing in parties during hearings.
  • Meet and greet court users, jurors, visitors, and witnesses.
  • Coordinate the movement of individuals into court/hearing rooms and keep parties informed of any changes in hearing times.

Principal Accountabilities:


  • Work with specific client or stakeholder groups, including bereaved families and other interested parties, demonstrating tact and diplomacy at all times.
  • Collaborate effectively with Local Authority Officers and Councillors.


This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the efficient operation of the Coronial Service while providing essential support to those involved in the investigation of deaths within Inner West London.


Requirements:


  • Strong administrative skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in IT systems and data entry.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure.
  • Experience working within a similar role and sector
