Role:


In this position, you'll be joining an established Data Protection & Information Access function where you will play a key role in coordinating Data Protection (DP) and Environmental Information Regulation (EIR) compliance across our organisation and ensuringeveryone in the business is aware of their responsibilities.

You'll be responsible for monitoring compliance with data protection legislation alongside the policies of the group. You'll undertake Privacy Impact Assessments and complete breach reports where necessary to ensure compliance with the group's data protectionobligations.

Experience in training employees from various business areas is necessary as this will be a key element of this role.

In addition, you will maintain appropriate records relating to UK-GDPR, DPA and EIR whilst reporting this to the Information Access Team Leader and Data Protection Officer.


Responsibilities:

Coordinate EIR and DP related activity across the business by undertaking the following:

  • Employees are equipped with the right skills and advice to perform their tasks in compliance with the legislation and are aware of their obligations
  • Establish and edit EIR and DP advice and guidance both internal and external
  • Ensure advice, guidance and policies are kept up to date
  • Appropriate outcomes are aligned with departmental and company goals
  • All issues are handled promptly, effectively and in line with statutory time limits and company policy.

Support the Data Protection Officer to:

  • Inform and advise the group and the employees who carry out processing of their obligations pursuant to UK GDPR, the DPB and to other Union or Member State data protection provisions;
  • Monitor compliance with UK GDPR, the DPB with other Union or Member State data protection provisions and with the policies of the group or processor in relation to the protection of personal data, including the assignment of responsibilities, awarenessraisingand training of staff involved in processing operations, and the related audits;
  • Provide advice where requested as regards the data protection impact assessment and monitor its performance pursuant to Article 35; cooperate with the supervisory authority;
  • Act as the contact point for the supervisory authority on issues relating to processing, including the prior consultation, referred to in Article 36, and to consult, where appropriate, with regard to any other matter;

Requirements:


  • Proven experience as a privacy professional managing
    Data Protection or
    Environmental Information Regulation (EIR) compliance

  • EIR and associated obligations.
  • Freedom of Information Act 2000
  • Infrastructure for Spatial Information in the European Community Regulations 2009 (INSPIRE)
  • Water Industry Act 199
  • Degree Qualified in an appropriate discipline or relevant work experience
  • Practitioner certificate in Data Protection or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in communicating with regulators to ensure a positive and productive relationship is developed and maintained with key personnel.
  • Experience in ensuring Registrable Particulars are notified to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) and are kept up to date and remain accurate
