Protocol is delighted to be recruiting for a full-time Student Advisor at a college in the Southampton area.Salary:
£25,000pa
This role will require an Enhanced DBS
To work with curriculum and support teams to contribute to the College's pastoral activity to maximise the attendance, retention, and achievement of all students, particularly those who are vulnerable and face barriers to learning.
Duties:
- To develop a knowledge of the student body by participating actively in the recruitment and guidance process and gaining an
- To provide pastoral support as well as preparing young people with the employability skills so that they can progress onto employment
- To manage a caseload of vulnerable students and be confident at facilitating Tutorials around key themes including, mental health, equality and diversity
- To proactively identify themes and trends in student concerns, behaviour and expectation
- To receive referrals for support and decide upon the most appropriate course of action, using a high level of 121 advisory skill, as well as knowledge of the College
- To maintain detailed records of vulnerable cases being dealt with, and student outcomes.
Person Specification:
- Maths and English Level 2 or above
- Level 3 Safeguarding or working towards is desirable
- Experience in FE
- Evidence in participation in appropriate training and development
- Experience working with students with challenging circumstances
- Experience using IT systems to monitor student interventions
- Experience in managing complex caseloads
- Proven experience of handling sensitive situations with diplomacy and confidentiality
