The advertised post is to replace an existing member of staff.The successful applicant will make up a team of 49 Consultants, including 3 MOD Consultants.
The post-holder will be responsible to the Associate Divisional Director/Clinical Lead for Theatres and accountable to the Chief Executive. All Consultants new to the Trust are offered a mentor.
This is a post for a General Anaesthetist. We would particularly welcome applicants with a subspecialty interest in Head and Neck Surgery.
The distribution of workload and departmental planning requires a degree of flexibility from Consultant Anaesthetists.
The predictable and unpredictable DCC work of this post is annualised and will consist of a combination of fixed (at least one day per week) and flexible clinical sessions (planned sessions 4-8 for Theatre/Obstetrics) to an agreed annualised total.

A typical week will consist of a fixed day and a mixture of Surgical Specialty Sessions such as ENT, upper GI, Maxillo-Facial Surgery, Colorectal or Gynaecology but, could also include Trauma or Emergency Anaesthesia.
The In-patient Trauma service at NWAFT is based at Peterborough City Hospital.
A formal job plan will be agreed between the appointee, Clinical Lead for Theatres & Associate Divisional Director on behalf of the Medical Director, within three months of the commencement date of appointment.
